Architecture Preview #1

La Pedrera, Spain:

1) The architect is Antoni Gaudí .
2) It was built from 1906-1912.
3) It is located in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain.
4) You can visit this building.
5) There isn't information on how much it cost to build.
6) This building was designed as a  home for the Milà family, and was the last civil work designed by Antoni Gaudí.
7) I chose this building because of its very unique architecture. The many curves of the building make it very interesting to look at. It's definitely a normal-looking building and that's what makes it special. I also chose it because I think that it would be a cool place to visit.

Habitat 67, Canada:

1) The architect is Moshe Safdie
2) It was built in 1967.
3) It's located in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
4) You can visit this building. 5) It cost $22 million to build this building. 6) This building was built to create a cheaper living area for many people.

7) I chose this building because it looked very unusual and different. It almost looks like a young child's LEGO invention, but in a much larger scale; and that's why it's incredible to look at. Also I chose this building because it doesn't look like it should work, but it does work, and that's very cool.

Burj Al Arab, Dubai:

1) The architects are Tom Wright and Carlos Ott.
2) It was built from 1994-1999.
3) It's located in Dubai, UAE.
4) You can visit this building.
5) It cost $1 billion to build.
6) This building was built to be a luxury hotel.
7) I chose this building because I have been to Dubai, so I wanted to research a building that was built somewhere that I've been. Also this building is unique because they had to build a mini island off the coast of Dubai for this building to sit on. The building is also very pleasing to look at because while it looks unique and different, it also looks polished.

Guggenheim Museum, Spain

1) The architect is Frank Gehry,.
2) It was built in 1977.
3) It's located in Bilbao, Spain.
4) You can visit this building.
5) It cost $100 million to build.
6) This building was built to be an innovative looking museum.
7) I chose this building because it looks very interesting, and is in a pretty location. It also kind of looks like half of a metal flower, and that makes it very unique. I also chose this building because I like how the light reflects off of the building.

National Centre for the Performing Arts, China:

1) The architect is Paul Andreu.
2) It was built from 2001-2007.
3) It's located in China.
4) You can visit this building.
5) It cost $500 million to build.
6) This building was built to be a performing arts center.
7) I chose this building because when I looked it up, it said that it's known as The Egg, and that got my attention. It does sort of look like an egg, but it's also very pretty. The location is special, and the way it reflects like makes it look amazing.

Website Review

I looked at the webiste Lens. This website is a part of the New York Times, but it’s mainly for photography. My first impression of this website was that it would include good photographs, but stories that were not that interesting to read. That, however is not true, the articles and captions are very well written. The intention that is behind this website is to show important events that occurred with photographs and stories. On this website, the articles are written about events that have happened all around the world. The average viewer, by viewing the website, can receive information about interesting events, and high quality photographs to go with the story. The stories, on this website, vary in length and topics, so one can find something that interests them. If you were to view this website, then you can also see the pictures of that week, and the captions provide information about what happened in that particular photograph. The pictures of the week are always very well taken, and cool to look at. That is not only because they describe what occurred that week, but because those pictures are the best ones to do so. I don’t think that I will add this website to my bookmarks because I don’t enjoy long articles. However, the website has very good photos that are captivating to look at and find the story behind them out. I would recommend this website if you want to learn about important events that have happened around the world, and look at some great photographs. I would rate this website a five out of a scale of five. I gave it that rating because the stories are well written, and pictures are well taken.
This is one of my favorite photos from this website. It was part of The Daily Pictures. I think that it describes what’s going on right now very well. It is a picture of a woman from Egypt . This photo is really well taken because it shows the scene around her and then you can see her emotion and expression clearly. It speaks for itself about what is going on. I chose to share this picture on my blog because I really like her emotion and the scenerio.
